Person On Tracks Suspends CTA Red, Purple, Yellow Lines

Shuttle buses were on offer Monday after an unauthorized person on the tracks near Howard stopped all trains north of Wilson.

CHICAGO — Service on the CTA's Red, Yellow and Purple lines was suspended Monday morning due to an unauthorized person on the tracks near the Howard Street station. Red Line service was suspended north of Wilson, according to a CTA alert around 9:15 a.m. Shuttle buses will be available to provide service between Howard and Wilson, according to the alert.

Yellow and Purple line service was also suspended due to the person on the tracks. The CTA recommended using the Route 97 Skokie bus as an alternative to the Yellow Line. Purple Line passengers can use local bus service through Evanston or bus trips downtown. For service between Belmont and downtown, transit officials recommended the Brown Line.

All commuters were asked to allow extra travel time during Monday morning's commute. The Evanston Fire Department said it needed to evacuate a Yellow Line train at Custer Avenue and Mulford Street.
