Poem of Peace

Standing on the precipice of time

emotions chilled to the bone

we remember those lost

tragically gone alone;

This is our moment

a time for hope regained

a vaccine infused to protect us

from perils of a virus unreined;

This is our moment

to unshackle ourselves from shame

a menacing foe that binds us

to misconceptions that maim;

This is our moment

to stand against vitriol and hate

to unify this nation

a nation of power and strength

a nation whose Lady of Liberty

remains a beacon for change;

We stand on the precipice of time

the future is ours to make

a future dependent on trust

on honesty and allegiance to faith

that love not hate will guide us

to truth not falsehoods that stain

dishonoring justice that unites us

and leads to violence and pain

the future is ours to make.
