The thief brandished a knife in the Sunday morning robbery.

A 23-year-old Evanston man is facing armed robbery charges after police say he brandished a knife and threatened an employee inside a Radio Shack Sunday morning, before stealing a pre-paid cell phone.

The thief entered the Radio Shack in Dempster Plaza just after 10 a.m., police said. He showed a knife and made threatening statements to a store employee before stealing the phone and running away.

Officers in the area saw a man matching the description of the robber, police said. The man, identified as Dandre D. Nesbitt, of the 1800 block of Monroe Street, was positively identified by the store employee. Police say they also found the knife and stolen phone.
