UPDATE: Road In Evanston Reopens After Person Struck By Vehicle

The victim was transported to Evanston Hospital where he is currently in critical but stable condition, Evanston police said.

EVANSTON, IL — Hours after police shut it down, Emerson Street has since reopened to traffic.

The Evanston Police Department had shut a portion of the road down east and west between Darrow Avenue and Ashland Avenue after officers said a car struck a pedestrian.

Around 10:40 a.m., Evanston police responded to a crash along the 1600 block of Emerson Street.

According to officers, a male juvenile on was on a skateboard when he was struck by a vehicle.

The victim was transported by the Evanston Fire Department to Evanston Hospital where he is currently in critical but stable condition.

No word by police of any citations issued; however, the investigation remains ongoing.
