Snow Emergency Declared in Evanston
Crews will clear snow from residential streets, business districts and sidewalks through at least the end of Tuesday.

EVANSTON, IL - A snow emergency has been declared in Evanston for Monday and Tuesday.
The city received about seven inches of snow over the weekend, according to James Maiworm, the city's bureau chief of infrastructure maintenance.
The emergency was called so crews will be able to clear snow from residential streets and business districts.

Maiworm said main roads and secondary roads in Evanston were cleared by Monday morning, with the focus today on residential streets.
Crews will begin to clear the business districts overnight and will continue the operation throughout Tuesday.

"This is an operation where crews pull windrows of snow off of the sidewalks and clear around parking meters to provide access to parking and stores," Maiworm wrote in a news release. "This will be a multi-day cleanup effort in our business districts.
Additional crews will be called in to clean sidewalks and parking lots.
