Snow to Hit North Suburbs Early Wednesday

It could start at midnight, and likely will affect your morning commute.

Snow could affect your Wednesday morning commute in Chicago’s near north suburbs.

A short burst of moderate snow is expected to fall during morning rush hour and could cause “a few slick spots,” according to James Maiworm, bureau chief of infrastructure maintenance for the City of Evanston.

It’s expected to begin to fall after midnight, with the highest snowfall coming between 3 a.m. and 10 a.m.

“Initially snow is not expected to accumulate as the ground is warm and pavement temperatures are expected to remain above freezing,” Maiworm wrote in an email Tuesday. “However, at sunrise a short 2 to 3 hour window of moderate to possibly heavy snowfall rates may create some slick spots on pavement.

The city of Evanston will have a Public Works crew on standby to monitor road conditions and begin operations if they are required.
