Starbucks Opens New Downtown Evanston Store

The new store at 1734 Sherman Ave. is three times the size of the old store just a couple of doors down on the same block.

Have you been to the new Starbucks in downtown Evanston? What do you think of the new location?

The new Starbucks at 1734 Sherman Ave. is three times larger than the old store just a couple of doors down on the same block and features 126 seats compared to around 20 in the old location, Evanston Review reported. Starbucks reopened in the larger space after 21 years at its old location.

“The company found an opportunity to be able to fit the expanding needs of Evanston and Northwestern University customers while maintaining presence on Sherman Avenue,” store manager Jose Leon said in a press release.

“We wanted to be able to provide not only world class beverages and customer service but a place to truly enjoy the full Starbucks experience; whether you’re studying, holding a meeting, or just kicking back and relaxing!”

The new location also has a Leadership in Environmental and Energy Design (LEED) certification and pays tribute to the owner of the space, Sarkis B. Nazarian, by displaying one of her father’s rugs above a skylight. Nazarian’s father is a master rug maker, Evanston Review reported.
