Teen Robbery Crew Marauding Evanston, Police Warn

Nine strongarm robberies in Evanston and Rogers Park over two days are linked to a group of three or four teenagers, police said.

EVANSTON, IL — Police said seven strongarm robberies over two days in Evanston are thought to have been committed by the same group.

The robberies have all taken place in the middle of the day — between noon and 2 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday — in south and central parts of Evanston.

Two similar robberies have been reported in Chicago's Rogers Park neighborhood, according to an alert from the Evanston Police Department.

The incidents have targeted women carrying purses and people walking the street with their cell phones out and visible, according to police.

Police said the robbery crew consisted of three or four teenage boys between 13 and 17 travelling in a blue Honda CRV that has been reported stolen out of Chicago.

The teens have not brandished any weapons or threatened to shoot anyone, according to the alert, but they have battered several of their victims.

No word about any injuries was immediately available from police.
