Music Institute hosts "Make Music Chicago"

The Music Institute of Chicago will put on a day of musical events from morning until night, beginning with a radio broadcast and a lecture from an expert musician and ending with afternoon performances and an Samba Parade and Street Jam.

Downtown Evanston Farmers' Market  

June 22, 7:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., Every Saturday through Nov. 2, University Place and Oak Ave.

Shop for fresh items, such as fruit, vegetables, meat, cheese, eggs, baked goods and flowers, at Evanston's Farmers' Market. As many as 51 vendors will be selling their products.

Summer C.A.R.E. Dog Wash 

June 22, 9 a.m.- 2 p.m., CARE/Evanston Animal Shelter grounds, 2310 Oakton St., $10 per dog

C.A.R.E. volunteers will roll up their sleeves to clean dogs of any size, so bring your dirty dog for a wash! All proceeds will go to C.A.R.E.  

Tree Summit: Save Evanston's Urban Forest

The City of Evanston’s Parks/Forestry Division and the Openlands Branch of Evanston TreeKeepers are cosponsoring a special event to educate and entertain Evanston residents on Evanston’s tree population.

CMYE Distillery Tour And Gin Bottling At Few Spirits!

June 22, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m., 918 Chicago Ave., Free

Few Spirits is offering a tour and bottling class. Few Spirits can only take 20 participants, so register on Yelp. All participants must be at least 21 years old.

3rd Generation Silhouette Artist Erik Johnson Comes to lollie

June 22, 12:30 p.m.- 5 p.m., lollie 1312 Chicago Ave, Silhouettes: $25 each, Duplicates: $15 each

Third generation silhouette artist Erik Johnson will be creating hand-cut silhouette keepsakes in five minute sessions on Saturday.

FJT Presents "For Colored Girls..."

June 8-23, Sat., 7 p.m. and Sun., 3 p.m., The Theatre at Noyes Cultural Arts Center, 927 Noyes St., $12 at the door or $10 in advance

The Fleetwood- Jourdain Theatre will present its final weekend of “For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf.” The show, by Ntozake Shange, is a "choreopoem," which is a series of 20 poems accompanied by music. The performance highlights the hardships women of color have faced.

Chicago Folks Operetta Preview: The Land of Smiles

June 23, 3 p.m., Evanston Public Library - Community Meeting Room, Free

Artists from Chicago Folks Operetta present old world music selections from their summer production, The Land of Smiles. Set in 1912's Vienna and China, the operetta spins a bittersweet tale of impossible love between two pairs of lovers from different cultures. Music by Franz Lehar, book by Ludwig Herzer and Fritz Lohner.
