Wind Advisory Issued for Suburbs as Major Autumn Storm Expected Later Today
The storm is expected to hit communities throughout north central Illinois Wednesday evening and continue into the night.

A wind advisory has been issued for counties throughout northern Illinois for Wednesday evening, and will remain in affect through Thursday evening, as a major autumn storm is expected to hit the area.
Heavy storms could produce wind gusts between 45 and 57 mph, which could result in property damage unless precautions are taken and could make driving difficult, according to the National Weather Service. A wind advisory will take affect at 6 p.m. Wednesday and continue through Thursday at 6 p.m. for Lake, McHenry, Cook, DuPage, Kendall, Kane, Will and Boone counties.

A wind advisory means sustained winds of 30 to 39 mph are expected. Heavy winds are expected to continue through the day Thursday.
A major autumn storm is expected for areas throughout the central U.S., including north central Illinois, on Wednesday evening and continuing into the night, NBC Chicago reports. The threat includes stretches from San Antonio to Chicago to Cincinnati and could affect 63 million people.

The storm could produce some isolated thunderstorms as a strong cold front moves across the region, according to the National Weather Service.
