Arthur Agee, Of 'Hoop Dreams,' Accused In Forest Park Attack

BREAKING: Agee, 45, of Chicago's West Side, was jailed on $30,000 bond, news outlets said.

FOREST PARK, IL — Arthur Agee, a former basketball player featured in the 1994 Oscar-nominated documentary "Hoop Dreams," was charged with battery after police said he punched a woman in Forest Park, multiple media outlets reported. The woman suffered several broken ribs in the attack, news outlets said.

The Chicago Tribune, citing the Cook County state’s attorney’s office, reported Agee was accused of punching a woman on Nov. 19 near Brown Avenue and Randolph Street. He now faces an aggravated battery charge, the newspaper said.

Agee, 45, of the 200 block of North Leamington Avenue in Chicago's South Austin neighborhood, was jailed on $30,000 bond.

In the movie "Hoop Dreams," William Gates and Arthur Agee travel an hour and a half each way from Chicago to St. Joseph High School in Westchester, a predominately white, Roman Catholic college prep school touted for its prestigious basketball program.
