Restroom-Stall Threat Disrupts Elmwood Park High

Bomb-sniffing dogs brought to west suburban high school Friday morning.

RIVER GROVE, IL — A note scrawled on a girls restroom-stall door at Elmwood Park High School has led to a police presence at the school Friday morning, including bomb-sniffing dogs.

The threat read: “Tomorrow school will blow, Feb. 19, 10 a.m.”

School, however, is not cancelled. Students are entering this morning through the gymnasium where they and their bags can be searched. The school building and campus also was searched.

“We had someone write a threatening message and we’ve got to take it seriously,” Principal Jim Jennings told the Chicago Tribune, saying a student found the message around 2 p.m. Thursday and notified a teacher. “We became aware of it during the last hour of the school day.”

Elmwood Park and River Grove police are at the school. Administrators say the threat writer will be disciplined and face criminal charges if and when that person is discovered.
