Crack Found on 2 After Police Stop Car on Harlem

Forest Park police charged a man and a pregnant woman with possession of a controlled substance, after finding pipe, crack cocaine in their car.

An officer on patrol in the 600 block of Harlem Avenue in Forest Park Jan. 26 reported pulling over a car for failing to signal before turning out of a gas station.

When the officer approached the window, they reported seeing a metal pipe in one in the lap of the driver, later identified as Jonathan Salazar, 30, of Rolling Meadows.

The officer asked Salazar to step out of the vehicle, at which point he allegedly dropped the pipe into the driver's side door. He was placed into custody and a search found a total of seven plastic bags containing a white, rock like substance, which police suspected was cocaine.

After recovering the suspected cocaine from Salazar, police interviewed a passenger in the vehicle, later identified as Carolina A. Migliore, 42, of Wheeling. Migliore admitted to having crack cocaine on her to the officer when asked. Three bags of a white, rock-like substance on her and she was also placed under arrest.

At the station, Salazar and Migliore told police they had put their money together earlier in the evening and purchased the crack cocaine in the west side of Chicago for $100.

Migliore told officers that she was six weeks pregnant and had recently relapsed after breaking up with her boyfriend. Both substances field-tested positive for the presence of cocaine, police reported.

Salazar was later charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance for the approximately 2 grams of cocaine found on him. Migliore was charged with possession of a controlled substance for 1 gram of cocaine.

Both were held for bond hearings.
