Feeling Crabby? Head to Crabfest at Shanahan's This Weekend

Crabfest is this month's special menu focus at Shanahan's Creole Restaurant and Irish Bar in Forest Park, running Dec. 14-16.

Shanahan's Creole Restaurant and Irish Bar gets crabby this weekend.

Starting today, diners will notice the menu has been taken over by King Crab, Snow Crab and Soft Shell Crab—and can be ordered just about any way you like it through Sunday, Dec. 16.

The King and Snow crab specials are the highlight of the weekend's menu, Shanahan's manager said. Served with butter sauce and a pair of crackers, it's a dish you can go to town on. The specials are $46 for the King Crab and $17 for the Snow Crab.

Other dishes of note on the menu during Crabfest include New England crab rolls for $10; a soft shell crab po-boy for $14; the soft shell crab platter (lightly fried and served with French fries and slaw) for $17; and of course, crab cakes for $8.

Each month the staff at Shanahan's gets together to pick what their monthly  weekend fest will be. Previous months have featured an ode to the alligator and the lobster.
