Ferrara Candy Company Engagement Council Supports Local Community, Engages Employees in Volunteerism
More Than 130 Ferrara Employees Recently Volunteered to Benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana
A part of the fabric of Chicagoland since its founding in 1908, Ferrara Candy Company is committed to “sharing goodness,” whether through its iconic and crave-worthy sweets or by giving back to the community through its many civic-focused Engagement Council activities. Recently, through a partnership benefitting RMHC-CNI, over 130 Ferrara employees, who were provided paid time off by the Company, volunteered at local Ronald McDonald Houses, preparing meals, baking cookies and performing other spring cleaning tasks. The Engagement Council, comprised of a cross-functional team of Ferrara employees, seeks out ways for the company and its employees to impact the towns and cities where they live and work.
“Our employees rallied around this opportunity to positively impact an organization that does so much good for local kids and their families. Our successful Ferrara volunteer month at Ronald McDonald House Charities-CNI followed an earlier fundraiser and wish-list drive,” states Mike Goldwasser, Chief Human Resources Officer at Ferrara Candy Company and the executive sponsor for the Engagement Council. “In addition to the overwhelming generosity and enthusiasm of the Ferrara employees during this fundraising initiative, the Company provided a matching contribution to help exceed our initial goal.”
“We are thankful to the Ferrara Candy Company for their partnership with RMHC-CNI,” said Holly Buckendahl CEO of RMHC-CNI. “Through their generous gifts of time, talent and treasure, they have helped our charity to carry out our mission of providing a ‘home away from home’ to so many families of hospitalized children. We truly value our relationship with the Ferrara Candy Company and are grateful to the employees and management team who have made an impact on the lives of so many families during a very stressful time. Thank you on behalf of RMHC-CNI and families we serve.”
