Forest Park Police Fatally Shoot Suspect

Hit and run suspect reportedly drove towards the officer.

A Forest Park police officer fatally shot a driver suspected in a hit and run crash involving a stolen vehicle Friday night.

The officer began following the vehicle, which was reportedly involved in a hit and run earlier near Adams Street and Central Avenue in Chicago, after it was spotted heading west on Jackson Boulevard near Harlem Avenue towards Oak Park, ABC Chicago reported. The vehicle had been reported stolen in Glendale Heights.

Attempting to evade police, the driver turned around, heading east on Jackson, according to CBS Chicago. Police said the vehicle began driving towards the officer, who was on foot.

The officer reportedly fired towards the moving vehicle, killing the suspect, who had yet to be identified by police.

The shooting happened at around 6:15 p.m. near the Forest Park/Oak Park border, the Chicago Tribune reported.
