Forest Park to Put Video Gambling Issue to Public

Village commissioners voted Tuesday to add an advisory referendum to the April ballot to gauge resident's reaction to allowing video gaming machines in Forest Park.

Village commissioners voted 4-0 to approve an advisory referendum on Forest Park voter's April 9 ballot on the issue of video gaming.

The question to residents will be whether the village should continue its ban on video gambling, according to the Forest Park Review.

The issue has been hotly debated in Forest Park. Some business owners and residents say allowing video gaming in businesses with liquor licenses would bring more revenue to the village and attract more customers. Opponents argue that the costs would outweigh the benefits in terms of public perception of Forest Park and the cost of gambling on a community in general.
