Sugars are hidden in our everyday foods. Products once believed to be healthy are loaded with an excessive amount of sugars. This is why checking and reading your labels is always important. American woman should consume no more than 100 calories of added sugar each day, while men are allotted no more than 150 calories per day, according to the American Heart Association.
Excessive sugar intake is poor for your health and can lead to a variety of health issues including obesity, high blood pressure, diabetes and even some cancers. Although people know this, it does not stop them from overindulging and packing the sugar into their everyday eating habits. According to a survey done by the United States Food and Drug Administration between 1977 and 2010, added sugar consumption has increased by nearly 30% in adults. At this rate, America is looking at a very dangerous future.
