House Red Vinoteca Celebrates New Year's Eve in Style

Sticking around town this New Year's Eve?

If you do, you're in for a treat at House Red Vinoteca, a Forest Park wine bar and restaurant.

House Red will be bringing in the New Year with a French-inspired five-course prix fixe menu complimented by a series of French white wines. Diners will also enjoy music by the celebrated Cheryl Wilson Trio.

The star of the menu is Boeuf en Croute—a beef cheek braised in red wine and wrapped up in pastry dough and baked. The entree will be served with braised greens and a traditional Bordelaise sauce, and paired with a 2009 Chateau Plaisance Branne from Saint-Emillion.

Other dishes on the menu include Bisque de Crevettes, a creamy broth with poached shrimp and lemon zest; Sole in Sauce Vin Rouge, poached sole rolled around leeks and peppers and served over whipped potatoes with a red wine and cream sauce; as well as oysters and a cheese plate. Save room for hot dark chocolate pudding topped with homemade caramel.

The special New Year's Eve prix fixe menu costs $75, or $110 with wine pairings.

Seating will be reservation only, beginning at 7 p.m.

Musical Performance by the Cheryl Wilson Trio

As an additional treat, those who attend with be treated to a unique performance by the Cheryl Wilson Trio. Wilson is a member of the Jazz & Contemporary Studies faculty at Roosevelt University in Chicago. Wilson has performed on a number of dance hits that topped the UK Billboard charts and has performed with artists such as Celine Dion, Harry Connick Jr., Nancy Wilson, Mel Torme, Natalie Cole and Kenny G.
