Psychiatrist Kate Johnson, MD, Joins Loyola

Kate Johnson, MD, a psychiatrist who takes a holistic approach to treating her patients, has joined Loyola Medicine.

Kate Johnson, MD, a psychiatrist who takes a holistic approach to treating her patients, has joined Loyola Medicine.

Dr. Johnson is an assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurosciences of Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine. She will see patients at Loyola’s main campus in Maywood and at the Loyola Center for Health at Homer Glen.

Conditions Dr. Johnson treats include depression, anxiety, emotional trauma, sexual dysfunction and schizophrenia. Dr. Johnson offers a range of treatments and strategies that include stress management, conflict resolution, mindfulness, mind-body approaches and medications.

“Medication is just one of the tools in the box,” Dr. Johnson said. “I try to use as many tools as possible.”

Dr. Johnson said she evaluates a patient’s whole life, not just specific symptoms. “I look at all the factors that make them who they are.”

Dr. Johnson is board certified in psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry and integrative and holistic medicine.

After earning her medical degree from Loyola’s Stritch School of Medicine, Dr. Johnson completed a residency in psychiatry and a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at the University of North Carolina.
