Rush Oak Park Offering Free Mammograms in October

About one in eight women will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime.

Women who live in the western suburbs of Oak Park, River Forest or Proviso Township, which includes Forest Park and 13 other villages, can receive a mammogram for free at Rush Oak Park Hospital through the month of October. To qualify for a free screening it must be performed by Oct. 31, 2016.

Proof of residence, including voter's ID, utility bill or personal check are required at the time of your visit.

Experts at Rush recommend screening mammograms every year, beginning at age 40 for women who are not high-risk and earlier for those considered high risk. Rush radiologists specializing in breast imaging review digital mammograms, which can often show the subtle differences between healthy and abnormal tissues. Of all breast cancers detected at screening mammography at Rush, the vast majority are found at the earliest stages.
For additional information or to register for a mammogram, please call 708.660.MAMO (6266).
* Funds are provided by a private grant for residents of Oak Park, River Forest and Proviso Township.
