FOREST PARK, IL — The family of a 16-year-old boy is suing Riveredge Hospital in Forest Park, claiming negligence involving another patient's violent sexual assault of the boy in 2015.
The family filed the lawsuit in Cook County Circuit Court, according to the Chicago Sun-Times, and they are seeking more than $500,000 in damages.
The suit alleges the patient who shared a room with the boy wasn't correctly screened or supervised, it says the hospital didn't tell the family the other patient has a history of violence and that the hospital didn't properly take care of the boy after he was assaulted, the Sun-Times reports.
