Frankfort police say break-ins happened in public places in broad daylight.

FRANKFORT, IL — Frankfort police are reminding residents to be vigilant after a string of car burglaries within a span of hours Sunday.
Between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., four incidents occurred at Commissioners Park (22108 S. 80th Ave.), and two took place at a municipal lot at White and Elwood streets. In each case, a suspect smashed a window to reach the unattended purse or valuable left in plain view inside the car, police said.
Several other police departments in the area experienced a similar rash of break-ins over the weekend.
