Bulletproof Vest, Gas Mask Stolen From Unlocked Car: Cops

PLUS: Frankfort police investigate construction site burglary.

FRANKFORT, IL — The following information is from the Frankfort Police Department unless otherwise noted. An arrest is not an indication of guilt.

Burglary

Items were reported stolen at around 8:30 a.m. Nov. 10 from a business construction site in the 9700 block Lincoln Highway.

Theft

A bulletproof vest and a gas mask with filter was stolen Nov. 12 from an unlocked 2013 Infinity in the 13000 block of West Florence Road, according to the Will County Sheriff's Office. The items belonged to the Bedford Park Fire Department and SWAT team, said sheriff's office spokeswoman Kathy Hoffmeyer.

It's not clear if the unlocked car was a personal or official vehicle. The sheriff's office is investigating the theft.
