Chelsea Intermediate School Students Graduate From DARE Program

Over 100 fifth grade students at Chelsea Intermediate School went through the program, assisted by the Frankfort Police Department.

FRANKFORT, IL — Over 100 fifth grade students at Chelsea Intermediate School embarked on a 10-week D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) journey with School Resource Officer and Frankfort police officer Chad Riff to learn about making wise decisions, handling stress, bullying prevention, drug prevention, being a good citizen, and resisting peer pressure, according to a release from the district.

Frankfort 157-C has been partnering with the Frankfort Police Department to bring
D.A.R.E. to its fifth graders for several years, the district said.

During D.A.R.E. graduation, each student had their name read by their classroom teacher and received a certificate of completion and a Frankfort Police Department water bottle. The Frankfort Police Department also developed an optional photo scavenger hunt for the students to enjoy. Clues were posted on the Village of Frankfort police department’s website and on their Facebook page. Each item found in the photo scavenger hunt was assigned a point value and the top 20 participating students with the most points were eligible for a prize, the district said.
