Chelsea Social Worker Donates Broken Crayons for Reuse

Eric Pistek, social worker at Chelsea Intermediate School, collected old crayons for SCARCE.

Chelsea social worker Eric Pistek has collected over 500 crayons to donate to SCARCE’s “Super Crayon” project. SCARCE is an organization dedicated to environmental education and conservation. Their “Super Crayon” project keeps broken and otherwise unusable crayons from being tossed in landfills. Donated crayon pieces are melted down and poured into molds to create new crayons in a variety of shapes for children with special needs. Whole useable crayons are sorted into sets for underprivileged children around Illinois.

Thank you, Eric, for making a difference in our communities!
