Cruisin' Frankfort 2018: Check Out Cars On This Year's Schedule

FRANKFORT, IL — If residents were wondering whether summer was around the corner in Frankfort, all they have to do is check out the buzz of activity around Breidert Green and the village's historic downtown. In fact, one sign that the season is almost here begins Thursday.

That's when the village's weekly Cruisin' Frankfort revs its engine for 2018. Sponsored by the Frankfort Car Club, the event is a showcase for unique and classic cars that fill the Kansas Street between Oak and White streets, as well as the Breidert Green parking lot. Cruisin' Frankfort runs between 5 t0 9 p.m. most Thursdays, from May 17 until Sept. 13.

While the first Cruisin' of 2018 will include a variety of different vehicles, subsequent weeks will showcase specific types of cars. The following schedule runs down the weekly themes for the year, according to the Frankfort Car Club:

MAY

17: Cruisin' Frankfort begins 2018 season, featuring all cars

24: Chrysler, Dodge and Vipers

31: Mustangs

JUNE

7: Street rods, customs and lead sleds

14: Buicks and Cadillacs

21: Corvettes

28: Trucks and car-based pickups

JULY

5: Military vehicles

12: Race cars

19: Vintage scooters and motorcycles (25 years and older)

26: Fords, Thunderbirds and Lincolns

AUGUST

2: Chevrolets

9: Pre-war/stock and 1900-1942 vehicles

16: Orphan cars, inclunding Oldsmobiles, Plymouths, Pontiacs and Mercurys

23: Rear engine, mid-engine and import cars

30: No Cruisin' night (Fall Fest)

SEPTEMBER

6: Survivor cars (original, not restored)

13: Station wagons and utility vehicles

Cruisin' Frankfort 2018

When: 5 to 9 p.m. Thursdays, beginning May 17 and running through Sept. 13.
