D 157-C Students Send Cards For Resident's 100th Birthday

FRANKFORT, IL — Frankfort 157-C students joined in the celebration of Laverne Johnson's 100th birthday, as they created over 150 birthday cards for the long-time Frankfort resident.

The district collaborated with the Village of Frankfort to send the cards, which included a class of middle school students who created a poster with handwritten notes from each student, the district said.

Other students decorated cards with drawings of birthday cakes, balloons, cats with
birthday hats, and fireworks, the district said.

“You should be very proud of yourself. You make my heart shine. You are so very nice to others,” one first-grader wrote.

A card from a second-grader read, “Happy Birthday! You must be very proud to be 100 years old. I could not imagine all the fun things you’ve done. I wish I could live to 100.”
