Forest Preserve's 'Trail Safety Days' Begin May 21
Personal best practices, sharpening trail awareness and rules of trail usage will be explored.

If you run, walk or ride on the Forest Preserve District of Will County’s 127 miles of trails, or you plan to do so in the future, the district encourages you to attend a new “Trail Safety Days” program that will be offered at three preserve locations in May, August and October, according to a press release from the district.
All three sessions will last from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The first will be held on Saturday, May 21, at Rock Run Preserve – Black Road Access, located west of Essington Road in Joliet. The Forest Preserve created this special program to instill a “Safety First” attitude among trail users. In-line skaters, walkers, wildlife watchers, runners and cyclists are invited to attend one of these events to learn how to share the trails safely. Personal best practices, sharpening trail awareness and rules of trail usage will be explored.
A different community small-business partner will be on site at each event with activities and merchandise. Partners include Sumbaum Cycle of Joliet and FnA Bicycles of New Lenox. Plenty of giveaways will be available. Forest Preserve Police will also be present to talk with trail users and answer questions from the public.
