FRANKFORT, IL — While the current team just won a state championship title in November, a former Lincoln-Way East football player will also head to Super Bowl LIV Feb. 2. Nick Allegretti, an offensive guard with the Kansas City Chiefs, will make his first Super Bowl appearance in the match-up against the San Francisco 49ers.

Allegretti was a stand-out player at Lincoln-Way East, and was also chosen to play for the All-American Bowl. He graduated from East in 2014. After high school, Allegretti went on to play at the University of Illinois, where he also served as a captain for two years.

Allegretti was drafted by Kansas City in 2019 as a seventh-round pick.
