Frankfort Girl Qualifies for U.S . Figure Skating Nationals
Ava Neuhaus who is 12 years old, is one of 12 Juvenile skaters in the nation competing for a spot on the podium.

Ava Neuhaus has been figure skating since she got her first pair of skates for Christmas at the age of 2. Fast forward 10 years later and she is one of the 12 best Juvenile figure skaters in the United States. Ava competed at the Upper Great Lakes Regional Championships in October and finished in 1st place. This qualified her for the Midwest Sectionals in November where the top 12 juvenile skaters competed for a chance to advance to Nationals. Ava also won the Midwest Section and has now qualified to compete at U.S. Figure Skating Nationals in January. Ava is home schooled and spends about 25 hours per week skating, doing ballet and off ice training. She is coached by Denise Myers and skates and trains out of Twin Rinks in Buffalo Grove, IL. Ava is considered a very good all around figure skater because of her skating skills and jumps along with her ability to connect with the audience and judges through her performance. When Ava is not at the rink training, she loves playing with her twin brothers and baking. She also loves to travel. In fact her most favorite place she traveled to this year was to Colorado Springs, CO. She was invited to attend a U.S. Figure Skating Jump Camp at the U.S. Olympic Training Center this past April, and she loved The Rocky Mountains. She really enjoyed hiking at the Garden of the Gods, and considers it the most beautiful place on Earth. Ava will compete in Detroit Michigan at Nationals on January 18th 2019. Good Luck Ava!
