Frankfort Named Tree City USA

"We've gotten [the designation] for years," Mayor Jim Holland said. "And I'm pleased that we do."

FRANKFORT, IL — Frankfort has once again been named a Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation. At its Monday meeting, the Frankfort Village Board also approved an Earth Day proclamation, and the village will celebrate Earth Day at its spring-clean up on Saturday.

"We've gotten [the designation] for years," Mayor Jim Holland said at Monday's board meeting. "And I'm pleased that we do."

One of the steps a village must take to qualify for the designation includes having a tree committee, which Frankfort has. The Tree City USA organization honors towns that work to ensure a greener, healthier environment for their residents, board documents note.
