FRANKFORT, IL — A Frankfort baseball player for the Chicago White Sox Amateur City Elite program recently helped his team to the championship game which ended in a tie. 12-year-old Danny Mackey is a student at Summit Hill Junior High and traveled to the inaugural Andre Dawson Classic in New Orleans to play with his team.

The Chicago White Sox Amateur City Elite program is sponsored by the Chicago White Sox. The organization offers leagues for boys 12U through high school. According to the program website, the program provides resources to inner city youths and gives them an opportunity for baseball. Players from in and around the city, including in Frankfort, Homewood and Crete, have gone on to play college baseball.

In the championship game, Kim Hannagan, Danny's mom, said both 12U teams from the organization made it through the tournament and played each other. The game ended in a 7-7 tie, with both teams being named champions.
