Frankfort Woman Celebrates 100th Birthday

FRANKFORT, IL — Frankfort resident Laverne Johnson will celebrate her 100th birthday on March 26. At the March 15 Village Board meeting, Mayor Jim Holland offered birthday wishes to the long-time resident.

Johnson resides in the home built by her husband, Stewart, and son, Ron, Holland said. Johnson was born the oldest of four children, and put aside school to help her father with housekeeping and caring for her younger siblings after her mother died when she was a teenager.

"Laverne cherishes family, friends, and fond memories of the places she has visited over the years," Holland said.

Johnson is a member of St. Mary's Church in Mokena, and was previously active in "The Young At Heart" group, Holland said.
