Missing Frankfort Tortoise Found After 6 Days

FRANKFORT, IL — After sneaking out of her yard on June 19, Olive the 19-year-old leopard tortoise has been found. Her owner Julie Conry said Olive was found in her barn on the 20-acres property where she lives.

Many around the community helped out with the search after the tortoise went missing last week. Julie Conry said Olive was in her fenced yard, but someone came to service the septic tank and she must have gotten out.

Conry said she didn't know her tank would be serviced that day and wouldn't have had her tortoise in the yard if she knew. Olive is a leopard tortoise, weighing 20 pounds and measuring around 20 inches long.

"I want to thank all of the people who have come, and are still coming to look for her, made fliers, and post on all of their personal, and also local sites," Conry said before Olive was found. "I'm so grateful for the amount of love that has poured in over the last few days."
