Garden Club Giving Away 300 Trees In Frankfort

FRANKFORT, IL — In celebration of Earth Day, the Prestwick area garden club will be giving away 300 trees for interested area residents. The trees will be available for pick-up from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the pool entrance of Prestwick Country Club, 601 Prestwick Drive.

"We all need more trees," said Kay MacNeil, who helps organize the event. "Trees do so much for us, and we don't even notice."

2 to 3-foot Oak (white, red and bur) trees will be given away at the event.

MacNeil said the trees are native to the area, and will live for 200 years.
