Hickory Creek JV Girls Volleyball Takes 2nd Place At Regionals
Hickory Creek was defeated by Summit Hill in the regional championship.

FRANKFORT, IL — The Hickory Creek Middle School junior varsity girls volleyball took second place in regional competition on Thursday, the district said. In the past 10 years, the team has played in the regional championship game five times, including three times against Summit Hill Junior High, the district said.
This year marks the sixth time the team has appeared in the championship game, and Hickory Creek once again faced off against Summit Hill, and lost 17-25 and 15-25, the district said. To get to the championship match, Hickory Creek defeated Manteno Middle School and Chicago Heights Middle School.
According to the district, the team consists of Shariya Kumar, Jaida Abdelrahem, Madi Zielke, Grace Griffith, Ella Klaas, Sophia Stanek, Leah Signore, Mackenzie Bacha, Mercedes Martinez Garcia, Alaina Pollard, Alyssa Bell, and Jenelle Ross and is coached by Sheryl O'Rourke.

There won't be any sectional or state championship this year due to the coronavirus pandemic, the district said.
