Hickory Creek Students Receive 1st Place Ratings At Music Contest

Six students submitted vocal solos and each of the students received superior first place ratings.

FRANKFORT, IL — Students at Hickory Creek Middle School recently put their musical talents to the test during the virtual Illinois Grade School Music Association District 6 Solo and Ensemble Contest, the district said in a release.

The students prepared virtually, and then submitted video and audio performances to the IGSMA judges. The district said each musician was rated on tonal quality, intonation, rhythm, technique, interpretation, diction, and various performance factors. All rating points were totaled for a final score and assigned a rating of superior, excellent, good, fair, or poor. The students were then notified of their ratings via email.

According to the district, six students submitted vocal solos and each of the students received superior first place ratings. The students were: Julia Alexander, Ali Kosteck, Molly Czechanski, Teagan Powers, Mary Rincker and Gaby Tsoukatos.
