Memorial Day 2018: What's Open And Closed In Frankfort

FRANKFORT, IL — Across the United States, people will be celebrating Memorial Day on Monday, a national holiday to honor those who died in active military service.

Although it's a national holiday, most retail businesses around the village will be open. But it's always idea to call ahead and check.

Here's a look at how Memorial Day will affect institutions and services around Frankfort:

Village Government: Village Hall and village offices will be closed. Federal, state and county offices also will be closed.

Schools: No classes for Frankfort School District 157-C, Elementary School District 159, Summit Hill School District 161 and Lincoln-Way High School District 210.

Frankfort Public Library: The library will be closed.

Frankfort Park District: The park district office will be closed Monday and Saturday, May 26.

Postal Service: No mail delivery, and all post offices will be closed.

Trash Pickup: Garbage collection service will be delayed until the next day because of the holiday. Go to Homewood Disposal Service's website for more information.

Banks: Most financial institutions will be closed. Call ahead to be sure.
