More Than 20 Frankfort Streets Slated For Improvement Under Plan

The village board has designated more than $4 million for street improvements for the fiscal year and work is slated to be done by October.

The improvement projects are possible because of the 1 percent non-home sales tax referendum which was approved by local voters in 2018, village officials said.

FRANKFORT, IL — More than 20 streets within the village limits of Frankfort will be resurfaced this summer after the village board recently approved a contract to the P.T. Ferro Construction Company for the 2021 roadway maintenance program.

Over the course of the next fiscal year, the village has budgeted more than $4 million in its general capital development fund for the resurfacing and maintenance of municipal streets. Streets and roads are evaluated and selected for repaving based on several factors to ensure the ongoing quality of local streets, the village said in a news release.

Projects include patching, replacement of defective curbs and sidewalks, edge grinding, drainage structure adjustments and an asphalt overlay of the entire street, the release said.

Frankfort Mayor Keith Ogle said the village is able to fund additional public infrastructure improvement projects, such as needed street repairs, because of the 1 percent non-home sales tax referendum which was approved by local voters in 2018.

Work is expected to begin in mid-July and is slated to be completed by Oct.21, the village said.
