More Vaccination Sites Coming, Nothing Finalized: Will County

Residents had asked on Facebook community groups if Lincoln-Way North could serve as a mass vaccination site, but no plans are finalized.

FRANKFORT, IL — Residents in Will County continue to question the speed of vaccinations in the county and access to mass vaccination sites. The Tinley Park Convention Center serves as a mass vaccination site for Cook County, and the DuPage County Fair Grounds recently opened as a mass vaccination site for DuPage County. No such mass vaccination site exists in Will County.

This dilemma has area residents coming up with solutions on community Facebook groups, and many have asked if the closed Lincoln-Way North High School could serve as a mass vaccination site.

When asked if the school district had been in contact with the health department about Lincoln-Way North, Lincoln-Way District 210 Director of Community Relations Jen Hannon said there has been nothing more than a conversation at this point.

"The district would be willing to help in any way that we could," Hannon said.

Will County Health Department spokesperson Steve Brandy told Patch that there are plans for vaccinations sites in the works.

The county remains in the early stages of Phase 1B in the state's vaccination plan. 124,492 total doses were administered in the county by Wednesday, according to data from the Illinois Department of Public Health.
