Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued For Frankfort: NWS
Damaging hail and wind gusts as high as 60 mph could affect the village Wednesday evening.

FRANKFORT, IL — A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Frankfort and surrounding communities until 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service. Damaging quarter-size hail and wind gusts as high as 60 mph could be a part of the storms affecting northeastern Will County, the weather service stated in the alert sent Wednesday afternoon.
Radar identified a severe thunderstorm near Mokena at around 4:58 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, according to the NWS. Besides Frankfort and the other Lincoln-Way villages, other nearby communities under the alert include Tinley Park, Matteson and Midlothian, the agency said.
Hail and wind could damage to vehicles, roofs, siding and trees, according to the NWS. Residents are urged to move to an interior room or the lowest floor of a building in their home until the alert expires.
