FRANKFORT, IL — Frankfort looks set to get its first significant snowfall of the season with a storm expected to hit the Will County region Tuesday afternoon.
The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for the Will County area that runs from Tuesday afternoon to Wednesday morning. Forecasts are calling for snowfall to start around 3 p.m. Tuesday, with precipitation to continue through Tuesday night.
Frankfort residents should expect rain and snow Wednesday likely between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., then a slight chance of snow after 3 p.m. Temperatures are expected to rise to about 37 degrees by 10 a.m., then falling to around 31 degrees during the remainder of the day.

National Weather Service forecasts indicate little or no snow accumulation for Wednesday. There is a 100 percent chance of precipitation Tuesday and 70 percent chance Wednesday in Frankfort, according to the National Weather Service.
Thursday is expected to be partly cloudy with a high near 29 degrees, though winter weather could return just after the start of the New Year, with a slight chance of snow after 1 a.m. Friday.
