Spotter Reports Tornado Touchdown Near Manteno

The tornado was seen 5 miles outside the town.

A tornado touched down near Manteno Monday evening, a trained spotter for the National Weather Service told the Tribune.

The tornado was spotted around 7:40 p.m., just minutes after a tornado warning was issued for southern Will County west of Peotone. It was seen about 5 miles southeast of the town of Symerton in rural Will County. The warning expired at 8:15 p.m.

No damage or injuries were reported.

Earlier in the evening, a spotter at Midway Airport saw a funnel cloud a mile away, eastbound. A funnel cloud was also reported south of Millennium Park about 5:20 p.m.
