Ultimate Volleyball Club Expansion Approved In Frankfort

The sports facility will expand into more suites in its building for space for strength training and offices.

FRANKFORT, IL — Ultimate Volleyball will move forward with an expansion after the Frankfort Village Board approved a special use permit for the business, at its Monday board meeting.

The sports facility, which has operated at 10850 W. Laraway Road for over 20 years at the main indoor sports field, will expand into suites 1-3 W for more strength training and office space areas.

Volleyball play would still occur in the arena area, not in suites 1-3 W, board documents state.

At an April public hearing, nearby residents expressed concerns with traffic and parking from tournaments at the Heritage Sports Plaza, according to board documents. With the approval of the special use permit, there is a condition that all activities occur within the building itself and no volleyball tournaments will be held at the location.

Trustee Michael Leddin said the police department would continue to gather data on traffic and revisit the issue if need be.
