One resident is reviewing security camera footage of the incident, which happened late Friday or early Saturday.

FRANKFORT SQUARE, IL — Vandals hit a Frankfort Square subdivision over the weekend. Mailboxes and cars were spray-painted either late Friday or early Saturday, according to residents and the Will County Sheriff's Office.

Three mailboxes were covered in red spray paint in the 7900 block of West Pine Hill Road, the sheriff's office said. Minor damage also was done to a tree sitting behind the mailboxes, which were set up right next to each other, authorities said.

The sheriff's office said one of the residents had a security camera and was reviewing the footage, the sheriff's office said. If he discovered anything in the video, he would pass it along to sheriff's deputies.

At least three other homes a half-mile north of the spray-painted mailboxes also were vandalized. Cars and mailboxes were spray-painted near Frankfort Square Road and Carrie Court. In these cases, vulgar words were painted on the cars and mailboxes.

Although property was damaged, reports were not made to the sheriff's office.
