Women Distracted Employees, Stole Purses And Wallets: Police

Two women entered multiple stores. One would distract an employee, and the other would steal an employee's purse, police said.

FRANKFORT, IL — Two women stole purses and wallets after distracting employees at two downtown Frankfort businesses on Friday, police said. The thefts were reported at 12:15 p.m. Friday at businesses on Ash and Kansas streets.

Police learned the women entered multiple stores, and when inside, they used a "distraction technique," police said. One woman would engage the employee of the store, while the other took an employee's purse and wallet, according to police.

Police said the first woman was described as 5 feet 7 inches tall, with blond hair. She was wearing a gray stocking hat, green long-sleeved shirt, jeans and a patterned mask, according to police. The second woman was also 5 feet 7 inches tall, with black hair. She was wearing a black sweatshirt with white lettering on the sleeve, jeans and a patterned mask, according to police.

Both women were black and in their 30s, police said.

The car used by the women was a gray Nissan Kicks, a rental car with a Texas license plate.
