Animal Control Offers Drive-Thru Microchip, Rabies Vaccine Exams
Kane County Animal Control will host a drive-thru clinic for dog and cat owners in order to make the process easier amidst busy vet offices.
GENEVA, IL — Kane County Animal Control will host its second clinic of the year on Saturday, June 12. Dog and cat owners will be able to bring their pet to the drive-thru style event to either be vaccinated against rabies or microchipped.
The agency's Rabies and Microchip Animal Clinic event will take place this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Kane County Animal Control office at 4060 Keslinger Road.
The clinic is set to run like a well-oiled machine, with two teams staffed with a doctor and support along with clerks to process paperwork while the pet is with the medical crew. Organizers for the event said staff with leash the pet, take them to an exam station, perform either the microchip exam or the rabies vaccination and take them back to their owner. After each vehicle pulls away, organizers said staff thoroughly cleans the station for the next pet.

Participants will still have to pay for their pet's treatment but some will be offered at a discounted rate. The cost of a one-year rabies vaccine is $20 for neutered pets, $35 for non-neutered and $10 for senior citizens' pets. Microchips are also available for $15. Cash, check, VISA and MasterCard are accepted.
"[Animal control's] goal is to help treat the animals in need and still provide a much-needed resource during these complicated times," said Brett Youngsteadt, an event contact.
