Coronavirus Cases On The Rise In Geneva During August

The city's case total for August is up by more than 50 percent over each of the past three months, public health data shows.

GENEVA, IL — The city of Geneva has recorded about 50 percent more cases in August than in did in each of the previous three months, according to public health data.

As of Thursday, 95 Geneva residents have tested positive in August, up from 61 in July, 56 in June and 62 in May. Geneva recorded 102 coronavirus cases in April, according to statistics from the Illinois Department of Public Health.

Officials reported 44 cases on April 26, four times more cases than any other day during the pandemic. That spike caused the city’s 7-day rolling average of new cases to hit 23 on April 28, but it quickly dropped and has remained under 6 since then, public health data shows.
