Geneva Manufacturer's Ventilator Valve Parts In High Demand

Smith & Richardson went from a thousand orders to thousands of orders for ventilator valve parts amid the coronavirus pandemic.

GENEVA, IL – Employees at a Geneva metal manufacturer are working on weekends as the company's production of ventilator valve parts are in high demand due to the coronavirus pandemic. Smith & Richardson, 727 May Street, went from a thousand orders to several thousand, and the company's employees are split between two shifts in an effort to fill the undisclosed customers' very timely orders, according to Rich Hoster, president and an owner of the company, Kane County Chronicle reported.

According to a report by ABC Chicago, the family-owned company is following a federal government request to significantly increase the production of certain metal parts for ventilators, all used to help patients with the coronavirus breathe.

Employees are following the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) guidelines for social distancing thanks to the 70,000-square-foot space, and the company is very flexible with paid time off and sick days.
